We are going to the furthest point of our route — the famous Eagles Bay (Bahía De Las Aguilas), located in a conservation area of Jaragua, almost on the border with Haiti. On arrival at the nature reserve you will walk along the high cliffs. From the top of this place you will see incredible panoramic overlook and beauty of the bay. After that you will go by a small boat exactly the bay, where you will have a few hours swimming and relaxing on one of the most beautiful wild beaches, washed by calm turquoise water of the Caribbean Sea.
Eagles Bay is located away from popular tourist routes and large local settlements, making local nature clean and unspoiled. You will stay on the beach, where in addition you will not find nobody else. Knowingly Eagles Bay includes in the Top 5 of the best beaches and even surpasses the beauty of the famous beach of Saona Island.
After swimming and relaxation You will enjoy lunch at a restaurant with a sea view.
After lunch we are moving to the next point of our route — Lake Oviedo (Laguna de Oviedo), also located on the territory of Jaragua National Park. You will enjoy one and half hours boat ride on the lake-habitat area of many birds (about 130 kinds), including the largest colony of pink flamingos on the island of Hispaniola (Haiti).
After the ride we will accommodate in the hotel CASA BONITA, located on the rocky coast. After checking in you will have a dinner at one of the restaurants of Barahona.
After breakfast we will ride to the western part of the Barahona province. Along the way will be a short stop in the town of Neiba, famous of its grapes gardens and young wines. Here we recommend buying some grapes not only for yourself, but as a feed for the iguanas. After that, we will come to the famous salt lake Enriquillo. It is the largest in the Antilles, and its size looks like a real inland sea. Since 2008, the lake began to increase dramatically in size, even now covering an area of approximately 100 square km. more than 10 years ago. Ecologists predict that in 10 years the lake will rise even higher, compared with sea level, flooding while the nearby settlements. First, we will meet with the local inhabitants — iguanas, which go freely here in huge quantities, bravely coming to people and begging for treats. Then we will have a boat ride by the lake. Maneuvering between the tops of the trees, until recently located on the land, but now flooded almost to the crown, we will go to the habitat area and the breeding of crocodiles. You will see not only adults crocodiles, but also young, many of them has less than one year old.
After a light lunch at The Enriquillo Lake we’re going to continue our trip. The last point of our route will be famous Polo Magnetico — anomaly where despite apparent to the naked eye descent, cars begin to roll up. Along the route will be a few stops to rest and see beautiful placesgravel beach of San Rafael, a monument to the Indian Enriquillo, after whom is named not only the lake, but also the region, windmills, observation platforms, and more. Throughout the trip you will listen a fascinating story about the Dominican Republic, its history, features and locals. You will return back to the hotel late in the evening.
